It's About Time!
This has been a long time coming, but this change will be permanent. All versions of ASE Civil (or any application published) will be installed using some variant of a standard Windows application installer regime. Winzip Self Extractors will no longer be used for installing any applications published henceforth.
Controlled Consistency
Since each subsequent evolution of the installer will be permanently tied to a specific version of ASE Civil, this will allow clients to easily install a specific version of ASE Civil and remove it and reinstall it at-will without a lot of hassle or reconfiguration.
The End Goal
In this context, that goal is to make implementation of ASE Civil easy, while ensuring management of that resource is also a straightforward, simple process using industry-standard methods and technologies.
The Content
This is essentially the latest Beta build, version 17.14.8.10[B]. As far as I'm concerned, this is the version everyone should be using. Many bugs present in previously published service packs and updates have been repaired with this latest Beta. ASE will only get better from here.
Pre-installation
Delete any ASE-related folders and content on your system before installing.
Where to Download
Here's the link to the .MSI installer. The installer is not yet digitally signed (next update), so you'll still have to click through the permissions first before the OS will open the installer and run it.
How to Install
After running the installer, accept the default install folder location and continue.
When running Civil 3D, if you already have a user profile created for ASE Civil, you may be able to load it and set it current to accellerate your configuration process. Otherwise you may need to go throught the manual configuration.
